Friday News Round-Up for June 22nd

Are we there yet?  Anyone with kids has heard that query. SMART MONEY* will cease its print magazine with the September issue and go all-digital.  As a result, the magazine is eliminating 25 editorial positions, including that of Editor-in-chief Jonathan Dahl.  The digital editorial team will expand from 9 staffers to 15.  Despite a circulation of more than 800,000, the magazine’s year-over-year ad pages fell more than 23% in the first quarter…

DESIGN HUNTING, a spin-off from New York Magazine that debuted with a test issue this past May, will increase its frequency to twice a year in 2013, with issues in March and September…

In print for 105 years, a regional magazine gets a revamp

BALTIMORE MAGAZINE, in print since 1907, will unveil a redesign on July 27, with the release of the August ‘Best of Baltimore’ issue.

The long-running regional publication will include new sections, including ‘Charmed Life,’ featuring lifestyle articles and trends, a new beauty and wellness piece and ‘Nest,’ which showcases one room in each issue.  Readers also will find an expanded ‘Upfront’ section, with more events, comments and entertainment reviews.  The online version will offer more multimedia content.
