Susan Reed is leaving as editor-in-chief of O, THE OPRAH MAGAZINE, less than a year after taking on the job “to pursue other opportunities.”

Susan Casey has been named to succeed Reed on July 20.  She comes from Time Inc, where, among other positions, she served as editor of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED WOMEN.  Earlier in her career, she was creative director of OUTSIDE magazine.Oprah magazine

The 9-year old magazine shot to the top from the start but has faltered lately, missing rate base twice and with newsstand sales down 25% in the second half of 2008.
