JazzTimes Is Coming Back!

JazzTimes magazine coverJAZZTIMES, the nearly 40-year-old music magazine that suspended publication last month, has been acquired by Boston-based Madavor Media.  Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

It is one of the country’s most prominent jazz magazines with a circulation of more than 100,000.  Last month it announced that it was stopping publication because of financial problems.

But it will be back with an August issue and with the same editor-in-chief (Lee Mergner,) managing editor (Evan Haga) and contributors.  Arrangements are being made to pay the freelancers what they are owed, Mergner said .  The first issue bearing the real imprint of Madavor will be the September issue, which spotlights jazz guitar, including stories on John Scofield, Nels Cline and George Benson.
