Woodworking Magazines Join Together

POPULAR WOODWORKING is the title of the new magazine by publisher F+W (WRITER’S DIGEST, SOUTHWEST ART), made by combining POPULAR WOODWORKING and WOODWORKING magazines.  It will begin with the April 2010 issue and publish seven times a year.

Publisher and editorial director Steve Shanesy told foliomag.com that merging the two titles will strengthen the new magazine, giving it a “single brand focus.”  According to editor Chris Schwartz, the new magazine will, “blend the nice color photography of Popular Woodworking with the understated look of Woodworking Magazine.”

The writer’s guidelines suggest that – like the original magazines – the new title will focus on how-to articles on woodworking projects and instructional features dealing with woodworking and techniques.  Circulation for the new POPULAR WOODWORKING will be about 165,000.  Unlike WOODWORKING, it will carry advertising.
