Resort Magazines Schuss Over to New Publisher

ASPEN SOJOURNER, VAIL-BEAVER CREEK MAGAZINE, PARK CITY MAGAZINE, ROCKY MOUNTAIN GOLF MAGAZINE and COLORADO SUMMIT MAGAZINE have been sold by HJP Media Ventures Fund to publisher SagaCity Media (PORTLAND MONTHLY, SEATTLE METROPOLITAN), based in Oregon.

The magazines target affluent readers in the resort markets.  SagaCity founder and president Nicole Vogel told the Aspen Daily News that she is optimistic about the economic future of local magazines.

“We think that local content is always incredibly valuable,” Vogel said.
“And having it done by locals for locals is important.”

At ASPEN SOJOURNER, no changes are expected as a result of the sale.  It publishes two issues in the winter and two in the summer, exploring the region’s history, its local characters and outdoor activities and cultural events.  Managing Editor is Michael Miracle, mmiracle@aspensojourner.com.

VAIL-BEAVER CREEK MAGAZINE is a quarterly lifestyle magazine publishing three times a year.  Editor-in-Chief is Don Berger, bergerd@vail.net. He also directs Rocky Mountain Golf and Colorado Summit magazines.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN GOLF MAGAZINE is published annually in the summer and distributed at over 265 locations (including more than 120 golf courses) throughout Colorado.

COLORADO SUMMIT MAGAZINE is published twice a year and, “celebrates the beauty, culture, intellect and recreation of one of the most vibrant regions of Colorado.”

HJP Media Venture Funds still owns SUN VALLEY MAGAZINE and SUN VALLEY HOME magazine.
