The iPad is prone to finger errors, prelim usability study shows.

Sales of the iPad soared to 1 million units sold in record time, beating even the iPhone.  But once it’s out of the box, using it can be a frustration.

The “fat finger” problem common to all touch screens, makes it hard for users to reliably hit small targets, writes usability expert Jakob Nielsen of the Nielsen Norman Group.  “The iPad has a read-tap asymmetry, where text big enough to be read is too small to touch.  Thus, we definitely recommend large touch zones on any Web page hoping to attract many iPad users.”
