Main stream publisher adds color with new tattoo title

BOUND BY INK, a new glossy at newsstands, takes publisher Source Interlink (SURFING, MOTOR TREND, SOAP OPERA WEEKLY) outside of its comfort zone of autos and action sports and into the culture of tattoo art.  Magazine co-founder Alan Alpanian, Source Interlink CCO, told Folio: “We want to get in your face with a larger than life delivery, to go beyond the visuals and get to the people and their stories, and what inspires their tattoo ideas.”

This quarterly publication features such topics as Cherry Dollface, a tattooed BMW, and napkin art in its premiere issue.  With an initial 175,000 national distribution, the 124 page magazine targets males, age 21-34.  The companion website is here.

Other digital and mobile offerings are being planned around the Bound by Ink brand, according to the magazine’s other co-founder Howard Lim.
