Brandon Holly counts herself Lucky returning to Conde Nast

LUCKY, the magazine about women’s shopping, is ditching its founding editor-in-chief, Kim France, for the more digitally inclined Brandon Holly, once of defunct JANE, but lately of Shine, Yahoo’s website for women.

“Brandon knows her way around Condé Nast,” company editorial director Tom Wallace said.  “Brandon also knows, because of her Shine experience, as much as anybody knows about building a success on the web.”

And that may be needed, as Lucky is behind other magazines in recovering, according to Publishers Information Bureau: Advertising pages were down 7% from April to June, compared with the same months in 2009.  “But,” Ms Holley said, “Lucky has got a strong business.  It makes money.  It doesn’t lose money.”
