NC artists given blank canvas in new magazine

ARTSEE is a new bi-monthly magazine based in Raleigh, North Carolina for artists, art patrons and art lovers.  Their mission is, “to provide a forum where local artists, collectors and enthusiasts can come together to share information, ideas and inspiration.”

The magazine will cover art happenings in the Carolinas and highlight the people, places and organizations that make up the arts community.

According to the website, each issue of artsee includes four (give or take) articles from their features categories: Academia (art education or art history stories), Community (art-related non-profit news), Conversations (interviews), Emerging (artists making a name for themselves), Openings (museum and gallery news), Sightseeing (art walking tours of collections and art happenings), and Venues (shows at non-gallery or museum locations).

Regular departments include a calendar of events, Composition (letter from an honorary contributor), Expertise (valuable art information from area art experts), Exposure (gallery of local artists’ works), Impressions (book and music recommendations from artists) and Perspective (art opinion column).

Initial circulation is 10,000, with complimentary copies available bi-monthly and replenished monthly at locations throughout the Triangle and beyond.  Subscriptions are also available.  Distribution locations include galleries, museums, curators, collectors, dealers, artists, designers, artist supply houses, schools, corporations, hotels and venues that display artists’ work.
