Defunct Sunday newspaper insert resurrected as quarterly

SUN MAGAZINE has been revived as a quarterly print magazine.  Published by the Baltimore Sun newspaper, it was a weekly magazine until the 1990s.

Sun debuted in 1946 as a “picture magazine with an idea.  The idea is PEOPLE,” said Editor Mary J. Corey,, in her Editor’s Note.

“Fourteen years after its ‘final issue,’ the magazine is back,” Corey added.  “This version, a quarterly, remains true to the spirit that formed it but is firmly pointed toward the future.  That means an online gallery lets you visually visit Sally Thorner’s beautiful homes, behind-the-scenes video shows what really happened at our fashion photo shoot, and the trailblazing doctors whom you’ll read about in these pages will answer your questions on this week.”

The new Sun targets affluent women and covers fashion, home decorating, style, beauty, arts, entertainment, health and wellness with a circulation of about 344,000.  It is distributed with the Baltimore Sun’s Sunday edition and is also available online at
