Venerable French Canadian magazine ceases publication

MADAME, the French Canadian counterpart of English HOMEMAKER’S*, is being discontinued by publisher Transcontinental Media (STYLE AT HOME*, ELLE CANADA*); the April 2011 issue will be its last.

“The perpetually changing environment of the media industry” was blamed for the closure, which will not result in any job losses at Transcontinental.

The publisher stated that Madame readers will be well served with titles such as COUP DE POUCE, VITA and BEL ÂGE, which “offer comprehensive solutions to modern women’s concerns in every aspect of their lives.”

Madame began as MADAME AU FOYER in the mid-1960s.
