Friday News Round-Up for April 6th

Spring may have sprung more than two weeks ago, if you’re going by the calendar, but for lots of folks this weekend feels more like the beginning.  So whether you’re celebrating Easter, Passover, the opening of baseball season, or the fact that it’s National Lawn and Garden Month, enjoy!  All magazines with an asterisk* next to the title can be found in our helpful Wooden Horse Database.

NFL MAGAZINE is ceasing print after just four issues, with the April draft issue as the last one.  NFL representatives say subscriptions and ad support were not the cause, and the magazine was well received.  Reports claim that problems with Canadian publisher Dauphin Media Group may have played a role, and Dauphin has shuttered its New York offices.  An NFL spokesperson says the league might revisit another magazine project in the future…

FLORIDA WILDLIFE magazine has ceased print after 64 years.  Published by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission under a Florida state mandate, the state commission requested the removal of the law to save money.  Eliminating the print magazine will save $240,000 per year.  The May/June 2011 issue was the last.  Plans are in the works to resume the magazine online at a future date.  For more information visit the website at http://myfwc.com/magazine
