BRIDES* magazine will return to a bimonthly publishing schedule beginning in January 2013.  Conde Nast increased the frequency to monthly back in January of 2010, when MODERN BRIDE* and ELEGANT BRIDE* were discontinued.  The move comes in the wake of sinking yeaer-over-year ad pages, down more than 11%, and newsstand sales that fell nearly 27% in the first half of 2012…

NEWSWEEK* magazine’s advertisers may be pulling back due to comments made last week by IAC’s Barry Diller about the print weekly’s future…

TWIN CITIES METRO magazine, published for the past six years by Minnesota-based Tiger Oak Media, will cease print when the final issue hits newsstands in September…

Marketing good health in a new custom magazine

FRESH JUICE, a new custom publication produced for Canadian food retailer Loblaws, launched in early April.

Published six times per year, the magazine features articles on healthy living, wellness, relationships, food and fitness, as well as recipes.

Partner TC Media published 425,000 copies, with 325,000 of those mailed directly to preferred Loblaw customers, and the remainder sold on newsstands across Canada.  No editorial contact information for the magazine is available at this time.  Find the website at www.freshjuice.ca.

All that glitters: A new consumer jewelry magazine debuts in Canada

EVER, a consumer jewelry magazine, launched with a winter issue this month in Canada.

The new quarterly is aimed at consumers who are interested in fine jewelry and fashion.  Articles will look at the history, culture and fashion surrounding jewelry, profile notable jewelry designers and provide hints and tips on purchasing jewelry.

Distribution of the free magazine will be through a controlled list of Canadian jewelers, with a circulation of 42,5000.  Published by Rive Gauche Media, Ever joins sister B2B publication CANADIAN JEWELLER.  Olivier Felicio, olivier@rivegauchmedia.com, is the editor-in-chief and publisher.  A website is under construction at www.evermgazine.ca.

HOMEMAKERS*, a Canadian women’s magazine, will cease print at the end of 2011, with the final holiday issue.  Launched in 1966 as HOME DIGEST, it still claimed over 1.4 million readers in this fall’s PMB data.  Homemakers’ French-language counterpart, MADAME, was shuttered in February…

Affinity’s American Magazine Study will begin reporting on a quarterly basis beginning in spring of 2012, up from their twice-yearly schedule.  The company surveys 60,000 readers to measure the reach of print and digital magazines…

HOLMES* magazine will cease print with the December issue.  The Canadian home improvement publication is being dropped by publisher Dauphin Media Group.  An offshoot of contractor and TV personality Mike Holmes, the publication launched in January of 2010, and quickly grew to 10 issues per year with a separate US edition.  The Holmes Group says it will seek another publisher…

Rodale Publishing is restructuring the company into three groups: Healthy Living, including Men’s Health, Women’s Health and Prevention; Active Living, including Runner’s World, Running Times and Bicycling; and Digital/New Brand Development.  Editor David Zinczenko will serve as group executive and general manager for Healthy Living, and David Willey will serve in the same post for the Active Living group.  A search is on for someone to head the Digital/Brand division…

A new luxury shelter publication puts the focus on Toronto

TORONTO HOME, a regional shelter publication, launched this week with a fall issue.

The new magazine covers high-end interior design, architecture and landscaping in the Toronto area.  Utilizing a larger format, the oversized dimensions provide more space for photo spreads.  The publisher, The AdMill Group, says the magazine will fill a void.
